RUWAN PRASANNA
-
Ruwan Prasanna’s works represent a simplicity that is animated by his sophistication in rendering the fleeting interplay of light and colour in nature. ‘Aluyama,’ or ‘Dawn,’ fully embodies the poetic sense of colour that the artist inherits from the Post-Impressionists. He places the atmosphere at the forefront, distancing himself from the tired figurativeness of traditional landscaping.

Hashan Cooray combines drawing, painting, digital art, installation and mixed media collage to engage his subjects beyond the stereotypical translation of portraiture. Characterised by an intense gestural quality that portrays his subjects in an intrusive manner, his work provides a stark image of the impact of an oppressive regime and consumerist culture on society and its denizens.
