COVERT | Chandraguptha Thenuwara
2020-2023 23 - 31 Jul 2023 The complete sculptural installation Covert will be presented to the public , a part of which was exhibited at the 59th Venice Biennale, from 23 July 2023 to 31 July 2023 at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery. Through an infinite vortex of interlocking motifs - lotuses, soldiers, stupas and barrels - constructed out of wire which link and fuse, layer upon layer, like the meanings of the motifs themselves - the artist invites the viewer to reflect on the social and political history of the island. This exhibition marks the completion of the project, which began in 2020 as an ambitious project presented by Saskia Fernando Gallery during Covid. Read more
