Salome Nanayakkara is a mixed media artist based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her work focuses mostly on using reclaimed, discarded and found objects. She completed her Masters in Counseling and Psychosocial work from the University of Colombo and currently works full time as a psychotherapist. Salome's assemblage art and sculptures are informed by her therapy practice and explore ideas of identity, emotion, healing and repair work. Her fascination for insects has led to the creation of what she calls ‘mothbots and copperflies ‘ life sized delicate insect sculptures made with metal, clay and watch parts.
