J C Rathnayake's contribution to the A4A fundraiser borrows its inprition from his most recent solo Metamorphosis. In this series, the artist introduces fissures into the tranquil and meditative topography that has defined his style for over a decade. It probes an inquiry into the fickleness of human nature – its unpredictable tendency to change depending on the personal, social and political circumstances. It is a Kafkaesque take on the collective experience of trauma, the reactions and responses that emerged in the wake of the recent political and economic upheaval in Sri Lanka.
