On...In White Barrel Thenuwara recalls the peace keeping barrels that marked the landscapes in Jaffna, which are in contrast to the camouflaged barrels that otherwise dominate the city landscape. On the surface of the barrel the artist has etched intertwined images that reference his Covert series along with that of the images of the mothers of the disappeared. The work contemplates on the contradictions and meaning of peace and reconciliation.
The work was part of the 2023 memorial exhibition Delusion.
