Tyres, barrels, barbed wires and metal crowd control barricade, each have become etched in the public conscious as reminders of a significantly dark part of the island’s political history - starting with the 1987 uprising and the civil war, followed by the camps for internally displaced people and the Aragalaya in 2022.
