Manaram Gamage Sri Lankan, b. 1997

Manaram Gamage (b.1997) explores his inner world through the visual medium, using the solitary human figure as a central motif to delve into introspection and the search for meaning. Gamage’s work often features dark, sombre hues—blacks, browns, and muted grays—that convey deep emotional and existential complexity. The figure, often isolated against undefined backgrounds, becomes a symbol of solitude, vulnerability, and the human condition. Gamage’s minimalistic approach focuses on the psychological depth of the subject, inviting viewers to engage with themes of internal struggle, identity, and self-discovery. Gamage’s sculptural exploration further externalizes this search, depicting solitary figures that are deformed and engulfed in emotional weight.

Gamage holds a BVA (Hons) in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo (2022). He presented his first solo exhibition at Paradise Road Galleries, Colombo (2024).
